SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS

Instructions for Authors

Articles sent for publication should not exceed 30,000 characters (with spaces). Reviews and book presentations will not exceed 8,000 and 4,000 characters respectively. All articles will be sent as .doc format and PDF format, without any information about the author. A separate attachment will contain the author’s name, his/her academic affiliation, his/her email address, an abstract and 5 keywords in English and in Romanian (the Romanian translation of the abstract and keywords will be provided by the editorial team for non-Romanian contributors). The abstract will not exceed 2,000 characters and must be written in English; an abstract in French, German, Italian or Spanish may be also included. Articles written in foreign languages will also have an abstract in Romanian. The title of the article will be translated in English and in French.

As “Dacoromania” (DR) is published under the aegis of the Romanian Academy, the current official orthography will be used in all content written in Romanian, according to the guidelines of the latest edition of DOOM.

Submission deadline:
For Summer issues (DR no. 1): December 1 of the previous year
 (e.g. December 1, 2017 for DR no. 1/2018)
For Winter issues (DR no. 2): March 1 of the current year
 (e.g. March 1, 2018 for DR no. 2/2018)

Average period of evaluation and publishing:
- 6 weeks for peer review
- up to 1 year for publishing.

Articles submitted to “Dacoromania” must not have been previously published elsewhere; equally, articles must not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration by DR editors or referees.

Style Guide
General information

1. The text of the article will be written in WORD, using Times New Roman, font size 11. The notes will be edited in font size 9, as footnotes. The quotations exceeding three lines will be 1 cm indented, font 10-point size.

2. Subtitles will be written with bold characters. If articles are divided into paragraphs, the figures indicating the paragraphs will also be marked in bold, including the full stop after the figure. There will be no blank space after the full stop.

E.g.:
1.2. etc; 1.2.1., 1.3.5.2. etc.

3. Maps, graphs, schemes, drawings and tables will be edited in Corel Draw or sent in PDF format. If the article contains several illustrative materials, these will be indicated sequentially, from 1 to n (e.g.: map 1, map 2, etc.; table 1, table 2, etc.; drawing 1, drawing 2, etc.; figure 1, figure 2, etc.). Any illustrative material (maps, graphs, etc.) in PDF must have a high resolution (preferably 600 dpi but no less than 300).

4. Abbreviations:
- The abbreviation “v.” for “vezi” will not be used, either in the text or in footnotes.
- “idem” and ˮibidem” will not be abbreviated, either in the text or in footnotes.
- “Locul citat” is abbreviated as loc. cit.; “Opera citată” and “articolul citat” are abbreviated as op. cit., art. cit.
- For page references, imprecise indications such as “e.s.”, “et. seq.”, “sqq”, “seq”, “ş.u.” etc. should be avoided; if such an indication is necessary, only “şi urm.” will be used.
- s.v. (= sub voce) is written with ordinary characters (not underlined) and without any blank space between s. and v.

5. The form of the quotation marks will be language specific. French quotation marks (« ») will be used in articles in Romanian in the case of a quotation within a quotation.

6. For book reviews/presentations, the following information will be given: name of the author or of the editor/coordinator (followed, in the latter case, by ed. or coord., a cura di, Hgg, etc.), title of the book (and, if necessary, subtitle, separated from the title by a full stop), volume (if any), publishing place, publishing house, year of publication, number of pages.

1. For all articles written in English, DR editors encourage the authors to follow Chicago Style formatting conventions, as indicated in the current edition of the Chicago Manual of Style:

2. Alternately, especially for articles written in other languages than English, the following norms will be used:

i. Books: name and surname of the author/ authors, title of the book (and subtitle, separated from the title by a full stop) in italics, edition, editor, volume number, place of publication, publishing house, year of publication, page(s) (in articles written in Romanian, indications such as: pag. or pp. will be avoided; these will be used only in languages other than Romanian). For indicating several pages, a horizontal bar (−) is used instead of a hyphen (-) (e.g. p. 1−18).

3. If bibliographical abbreviations are used, they should be “decoded” in a distinct section at the end of the article, before the abstract. This section will be entitled BIBLIOGRAPHICAL ABBREVIATIONS.
